Lovely figures and oh so nostalgic! But I have to ask why the unsightly big thick bases? |

The thick balsa bases were common in the 1970's when they were painted; at that time we used them for all of our Ancient/Medieval/Renaissance troops. I don't use them for stuff painted now, although one advantage of thick bases is that gamers will use them to pick up the troops, rather than grabbing the figures themselves. |
