Been looking at ways to solo play X-Wing. One simple answer is a six by six matrix with two different colour dice. The X Wing or Tie fighter maneuver template is superimposed over the grid and dice roll for the maneuver of the ship. Some variables can be added such as column shift left right or up or down depending on which advantages one wishes the enemy to use. Aggressive card could equal a choice between the next best maneuver for the moving ship.

I am also working on a D-10 based matrix and adding a third dice for altitude as I have been working on telescoping flight stands and have about 6 different flight levels so far that are workable.

Thoughts?

James, I haven't played X-Wing yet, but might this b e of help?

It works very well in Wings of War, being a tough opponent.

I like the matrix idea.

There are already some good, solo gaming rules for X-Wing, so they are worth seeking out. I think they were posted on either the FFG Forum, or the other one (can't recall its name right now).

I am on the three forums for X-Wing that I know of FFG, Board Game Geeks, and A Few Maneuvers. I will have to check the archives and see what I can find. Played with the matrix idea a little last night and I need to give it some more thought. Tie fighters need 16 options for maneuvers and X wing needs 15.

I have looked at the cards for WoW and see where he is comming from on the Zone idea but seems kind of complex on the surface. Will examine it some more this weekend.

I've used the WoW solo rules mentioned by Phil and they couldn't be easier to use.

I know it's on A Few Maneuvers.

They don't have a matrix, but do have charts for all the basic fighters in the game, and their maneuver responses, based upon where their opponents are.
