I recently put together a Trebuchet paper model. I wanted to have a base which would protect the model, anchor it on the tabletop, and one which would allow me to move its crew figures with the engine, as needed, during a game. The answer was to use craft foam sheets, and inexpensive vinyl floor tiles. The details are here.

I also wanted a way to individually mount some tree models I purchased. The same foam sheet/floor tile scheme was applied, with very satisfactory results. Cheers!
