I've updated the blog with an entry about 1:32 plastic flats. Check out the blog and please help identify the figures. Thanks!

Cool figures! Can you tell me where you picked them up from?

Thanks! Got them in a toy shop here in Manila. The set came with 6 poses. Will add more pics as soon as I get a chance to snap some more.

Good find, cooey. They are Russian, were produced by the Baltic Chemical Company of St. Petersburg, IIRC. They're from a set Kulikovo Field Battle, evenly divived between Russians and Mongols, both horse and foot.

So far as I know, the production dates to the days of the Soviet Union, I suppose one of those things they subsidized to keep artists gainfully employed, regardless of the popularity. These and similar figures do pop up on eBay, evidently they were produced in some volume. If you can purchase off the rack in Manila, so much the better.

I bought a set from Toy Soldier HQ a while back, test painted a couple to see how they'd look:

Thank you for the info CorporalTrim! I do hope I can get some more of these. I dont have that pose with the rearing horse. Would you have more pictures of your set?

Oh, here are more poses of the mongols

No problem, cooey2ph. I located the bag of figures out in the shed today so I'll e-mail photos to the account listed on your blog.

I have all of the Mongols shown on your blog except the foot archer, think I had that figure but can't find him now. I have one more Mongol on a rearing horse, different than the one above. I'll photograph him and the Russians.

Steve
