Hi guys I finally have a job again, and I have long promised to treat myself when I was earning again. I am looking to get 15mm mid Republican Romans for Basic Impetus. Warmodelling do a tempting pack of a FOG starter army for €55.00 EUR which would give me everything I need plus a few spares. However, I have never seen them up close, and have been told that the detail could be a little blury which would kill it for me. The infantry look good but some of the horses seem a bit goofy, but the pictures aren't great so I won't put too much store by them. Has anyone got this pack and what did they think of them ? Thanks Phil |

Hi Phil: A few notes (I may be biased as I am their dealer in the US): 1) They have replaced their horses with much better ones. If you do order them, just ask and make sure you get the new horses. Some of the old horses were dodgy but the new ones by Mike Broadbent are very nice. 2) I've never seen any figs from the company that I would call "blurry." Within tolerances for a miscast here and there they figs I get are all clean and crisp. 3) My main issue with them is the bottom of the bases. The metal they use is harder than some, so sanding them down flat takes a little more effort. 4) Some gamers don't like their faces – they are a bit "pointy" but I like this – it means I get a much better looking face with a lot less painting skill. They are more 18mm than 15mm but otherwise very fine figures. I couldn't fit them on a 40x15mm base as they are too large. |

Can you get differrenet horses? The only mounted of theirs I have are generals but they are one piece castings. As it happens, the horses look okay from a normal playing angle. |

Thanks guys, fears allayed. Phil. |

The kneeling triarii are especially nice, shields a bit wider than some ranges (similar to Xyston in that respect) and as already noted above they are large 15mm,but I'm certainly happy with mine and if the horses are no longer so stretched as the original releases, I'd certainly be looking to get more. |

@Swampster: They posted a while ago that they were swapping out the horses for the new, much nicer sculpts. Not sure what that means for one piece castings though
