Another splendid AAR of a local gaming convention, namely, the Williamsburg Muster, which my son and I attended last weekend. A great, no muss no fuss and no drama convention. They even have a con suite, and that makes it pretty cool in my book. Link: link Thanks for looking V/R Walt |

Walt, The X-Wing game was run by Jake from TAGS, the folks who run the board game room. It began as three separate games with a line of asteroids (SET OF 12) separating the three boards. Each out side board had 100 points of either X-wings or Tie fighters. Some of which had special abilities. Every five minutes an alarm would sound and Jake would roll a d12 and then remove the corresponding # asteroid from each line. Once enough asteroids were removed, a player on one board could go over to another board without the fear of damage. In the end, although it was close up to the last two turns, the Rebel Alliance won. For those who have not played X-Wing, try it. It's a great beer and pretzels game, like Wings of War. |

Nice write up. Maybe just my system, but half of your pictures are upside down. |

I see what you mean. Weird! It wasn't doing that for me when I posted it last night. I'll bang on it with a pipe wrench later. |

Thanks for the good word, Walt. I had a great time watching you and Chris try to out-maneuver each other. You also gave some very good feedback on the rules. Glad you enjoyed playing Mini Mech. |

The only thing I don't understand about the Williamsburg cons is what happens to everyone at 6pm Saturday night? 75% of the gamers all disappear. I've been to four cons there and this has happened each time. |

Does no one game after 6pm? I have been thinking about going, but I would hope there were open games at night. |

There was plenty of gaming going on that I could see. The boardgame room was packed. |

It has been my experience that after the raffle at 5 or 6pm Saturday night the vast majority of gamers leave. I think we had about 5 mini games going on after that time. Maybe they were all playing board games in the other room, but I doubt it. |

Chuckaroobob, People go out to eat after 6 PM, and then either go back to their rooms, go home to their families (many attendees are local), or find something else to do in the Williamsburg area. Just like at the HMGS Cons few folks stick around to game all day and all night!! The boardgame room was packed until well after two in the morning!! I know, as I'm the guy who has to lock the place up once everyone leaves, and I rarely get to my room before 4 AM Saturday and Sunday morning. |

I noticed that about Saturday night too. I have run a con game at almost every big HMGS con for the last 8 years or so. Everyone of them has been full. I ran one starting Saturday night at 5 in Williamsburg and not one person signed up. I still had two players and the game went great it was just odd to see the room clear out like that when it had been busy most of the day. |
