I have a slightly worrying obsession with ottoman ironclads, Here are the first three ships of my ottoman fleet. The miniatures are 1:3000 from Navwar representing Assar-i Tewfik (with the full rig) Feth-i Bulend and her sister Mukaddemi-i Hayir. Any comments on improving them more than welcome

Excellent. I really like the full span of Ottoman history and love that you are doing this under-represented niche. My only complaint is that the modeks are so small. I would love to see them in 1:700 or 1:350 (which I know is too big gor gaming but still…)

Thanks Pandabelly, it's a really fascinating period. If you're interested you can get bigger models for the ottomans ships of this time from north head on shapeways. I'm tempted by them myself just for the modelling fun of doing miniatures with more detail. And you're right 1:3000 ships are ever so small

Whoa! How did I miss Shapeway? They have Brazilian ironclads from the Paraguayan War and ironclads from the War of the Pacific! Thanks for the post Ben Walton, even if it did make me veer off topic.

Those are just great Ben. I had the same obsession with the Chinese navy, but now I am a bit inspired to go with the Turks as well.

Really nice water effect too.

How did you do it?

Ben Walton06 Feb 2013 6:52 a.m. PST

John the Greater, I know! a massively tempting range of ships on there.

Texas jack , thanks glad you like them. The Chinese are defiantly on my list as well when I get round to them

Boggler, here's a link to a how to for the water effect on my blog, hope it's what your after.
