The Karkarines serve their Cnidarian Overlords of the Pelagic Dominate without question, but when the Dominate is not at war the Karks consider it an honourable profession to fight as mercenaries. When they do so they use indigenous vehicles rather than the grav craft of the Cnidarians. The Cnidarians permit this as it keeps the Karks' fighting skills up, and it's a great source of intelligence about systems outside the Dominate.

Native Kark tech is an idiosyncratic mixture, equivalent to 20th to 22nd century earth. It might not be as leading edge as human or Garn tech, and is far behind the tech of the Dominate itself, but these vehicles are simple, reliable, and get the job done in most circumstances.

Here's a sneak peek at one of the heavy karkpanzers, the Karkmorser (S). This is the lead assault vehicle when the Karks attack fortifications, and will sometimes be used against a very large, slowmoving mecha. Each Schwer Karkpanzer Abteilung and Schwer Karkjager Abteilung contains two Karkmorsers.

The karkpanzers were designed by the great John Bear Ross, and as I've just received the heavies, I thought I'd sneak peek the Karkmorser (S). These were made as sci fi versions of Panzer 46 subjects, so they could complement either our Karks (or the other forces that use Kark vehicles such as the control battalions), or for WWWII or space nazi armies, the best example of which would be Mike Broadbent's space Germans for Eureka.

Anyway, time to cap the balloon juice and show the kit -- the rest will be kept under wraps for now, but here's the sturmmorser. As you can see it will have a similar fender system to the E-100.

Can't wait to see the rest. Any news on the Kark's 2nd wave of infantry?

Attractive design.

Wolfprophet, have them all in stock, just waiting for a delayed restock of the existing sets so I'll be able to fulfill orders for all sets.

Heavy Karkpanzer types are the turreted karkpanzer (s), the mech killing karkjager (s), the heavy SPA Karkkanone (S), and the Karkmorser (S).

JBR also added MDMS upgrades for the Kpzr(S) -- a huge rail gun and repurposed Nova Respublik Konkrete force field bricks.

I especially like the idea of having random skirt parts on like you see on some E-100 builds with tons of rust in the hull spots exposed by missing skirts! Be very fun to paint.

There are also medium karkpanzers, the meat and potatoes of Karkpanzer Abteilungen, which are about 65-70mm long, and of course the hetzer-like karkpanzer (l), which will be released with wave 2.

Wolfprophet02 Feb 2013 2:31 p.m. PST

You had me at "Hetzer-like." Which was also the first thing I noticed in that entire response.

khurasanminiatures02 Feb 2013 2:36 p.m. PST

Yes, I have that effect on people at times. grin

You've already gone to print! Sweet!

Sorry it took so long to sculpt, Jon. It looks great, though.

Best,
JBR

In Soviet Russia, toy play with you! grin

There's a real backlog of kits at the casters, 13thMonkey. This, and a whole bunch of other vehicle masters, is at the casters, waiting for other castings to come in. (The MDMS vehicles amongst other things.)
