Hi all

I have recently started a Great Northern War project in the 15mm scale.
I'm currently trying to make flags and after completitng some of them i am now out of ideas as to how i can make the flag tassels.
My first thought was to use some kind of thick thread and then try to make a knot that looks like a tassel.
Has anyone tried the same or are there any ready made ones?

Thanks in advance

Use very thin wire and make a loop around the flag staff. Then twist the two ends together so that it resembles cord. If you want it to look like two cords, then just twist the wire once or twice so that it adhers to the staff, let the ends dangle. Paint black and dry brush gold or silver and you are done.

Thin brass wire. Two nails.
Clamp one nail in a vise, and tie one end of the wire to it.
Hold the other nail 24: away.Loop the wire around it once, back to the nail in the vise, and back to the loose nail,
Tie it off at the loose nail, or just whip it around. Pull the nail so that the three strands are even.
Place the loose nail in a drill or Dremel, and run it on low.
When the braid starts to kink, turn off the drill and yank it tight. This will remove the kinks, and also set the braiding.
Repeat until the "rope" looks right.
You will lose some length from the winding, but it will give you enough braided wire to make scale rope, or flag cords.

I was going to say that you begin by rotating your shoulders, but that's a different kind of tassels….

Ok Guys, thanks a lot. I'll get down to it and let you know how it all went.

I use model ship rigging line. Tie it in a knot and fray the ends.
