What would you do about someone producing your items in another country?

Other than politely asking them to stop producing. Is there really anything I can do to have them stop?

Depends which country they are doing it in!

Most of the developed world has some form of copyright/intellectual property legislation. A stiff letter from a solicitor/lawyer may suffice.

Otherwise? A plane ticket and a baseball bat……?

It definitely depends on what part of the world they are in. I remember Mal Wright had problems with someone in eastern Europe making his rules available for download. When he tried to put a stop to it all he got for his trouble was an invitation to Bleeped text off.

I would think if they are selling them over the net, then perhaps you could have luck with their service provider. Good luck!

Yes, what Jack said. I have an Illustrator friend who suffers a lot from people just taking her work and re-using it 'because it's on the internet'. Somebody recently made an iPhone game using her images. She couldn't get the developer to remove the game from the Apple Store, so she contacted the Apple Store and they removed it instead. It might not be so straightforward in your case, but most channels of distribution are keen to stay above board. Good luck.

The only real option is to file a lawsuit in that country's court system, but obviously, some countries have a court system in name only. Your problem is basically the same as an intellectual property issue, which I'm fairly familiar with

Naming and shaming them throughout the industry and here as well has been a good tactic in the past.

There's one chap here on TMP who is selling re-casts on a regular basis.

There's also another on Bartertown who does the same.
I don't buy from them anymore, since I found they are re-casts.

Well, thanks for all of the responses. I was going to show everyone the posts but obviously the individual reads TMP and did not want attention (which is probably not a bad thing).

I went to the site to show you all and guess what…… the pieces were gone!

Thanks loads for all the support.
