Well , I am pretty much down to two different schemes, take a look here; link

I still am open to different period appropriate schemes if somebody knows of any.

Of those two, I prefer the dark-hulled one.

How about dark green hull with khaki upper works?

The light one seems more realistic. It would present a more difficult target for observers..

Lion in the Stars30 Jan 2013 10:55 p.m. PST

I also prefer the lighter hull.

Is that the pre WW1 Turkish colors? Sounds cool but the Turkish navy was very small, and they were buddies with the Germans at the time.

Engagement ranges were very short in this period as the guns were laid by the individual gun-captain, the Russians reportedly engaged Japanese ships with rifle fire as late as the Russo-Japanese war in 1905. Camoflauge value was not very important, I think they were going for style points more than anything else! All that said I do like the blue-gray hull with the light upperworks.

As I mentioned on the blog, I like the dark but I think the light would be better if you paint the detail the tubes and deck guns.

Great project

As you have the piccie in paint, sit for an hour with the fill tool and play with block colours etc on it.

The all grey pattern works wonders!

I would go for all grey. Sinister look!!
