This little guy has being rattling around on my paint table since September, he is the test piece I built and I've finally got him finished.

picture
so here he is in all his Red, White and Blue glory! He came out pretty well I think, so thanks for looking cheers Russ

He's very nice. The face, sleeve work, and shading on the helmet are fantastic. I'd say the test was successful, time to crank out the trest of them.

Crankee Doodle30 Jan 2013 4:30 a.m. PST

Nicely done sir.

Rrobbyrobot30 Jan 2013 7:22 a.m. PST

Really good. Is he singing?

Big Martin Back30 Jan 2013 7:46 a.m. PST

"Men of Harlech" of course.

Cheers guys, I must admit I enjoyed painting him despite it taking so long! It made a change from WW2
Sajiro, I tried to stay away from black washes and hard black lines, I was worried the contrast wouldn't be Sharpe enough, but it seems to have worked.
Thank you infidel Yankee I've just got a few more to do!
Robby its either as Big Martin Back says or "zulus thousands of em" or "land of hope and glory" or "blooming eck, looks like the sun might be setting on the great British empire"
Now I just need to try and finish the rest of my fallschirmjagers, a couple of Waffen SS (well ten or so) half a box of plastic Brits!

"Men of Harlech!" Nice work!

Thanks Cooey2ph, there are several more that have made it to the paint table, so the thin red line is hopefully growing, slowly but surely.

I've added to my thin red line! In between doing my fallschirmjagers and my ACW stuff, so here they are

picture
I've still got a way to go with them but so far so good.
So thanks for looking cheers Russ

Hey Bracken,

Excellent work on painting these Brits, can I ask what diameter are the disks you've mounted them on I have a couple of boxes on the way and was going to use washers for mounting and the size of your disks will give me a good guide of the size to buy.

Cheers!

Those disks are 2 pence coins, which are 25mm diameter

Olaf 0318 Jul 2014 6:53 a.m. PST

Those figures look great. I wish I had your painting ability!

Olaf 0318 Jul 2014 6:56 a.m. PST

By the way what shading technique/method do you use?

CaptainDarling18 Jul 2014 3:04 p.m. PST

Thanks Dexter Ward I thought there was a pattern on the 'disks' but the glue/filler obscured it….

Cheers guys

Olaf 03 the red tunic is washed over with scorched brown and then layered back up with blazing Orange to highlight but don't over do it. The white is base coated with German camo biege which is also washed over with scorched brown, then build back up biege to off white. The skin tones are covered in most of the tutorials on my Photobucket if photobucket is working I will post a link. If you need anymore info just PM me! link
