link A 5150 Fringe Space AAR of the start of a campaign. Only a few game weeks in
I'll continue to keep the campaign documented on my blog so that people can see how the game plays, but I'm probably going to start reverting to my more normal storytelling-based style of AAR as this more mechanical AAR shows off the core of what the 5150 Fringe Space campaign does, if not all the different possibilities. I'm sure people will immediately see how this game can tie in with Star Navy, New Beginnings, etc
just change a mission from "go hunt down those slave traders and this local government will pay you" to "we're at war, go serve in the Star Navy for cash." And for people coming at this from the RPG world, regardless of whether you have played anything by THW, I'm sure you can see how fun (and easy!) it'll be to play Old School Traveller-Style campaigns in this system. |

this more mechanical AAR shows off the core of what the 5150 Fringe Space campaign does Exactly as requested. Major thanks! Heck of a lot to digest, so agreed that it would be overkill for the rest of the campaign to try and document each step AND keep interesting. May I suggest small comment in further posts of the campaign pointing to this AAR? Doug |

"Heck of a lot to digest, so agreed that it would be overkill for the rest of the campaign to try and document each step AND keep interesting." I think the cool thing is that each campaign turn, even if you don't get in combat, is still like its own encounter. This sort of AAR shows some of the choices you can make, the overall flow, etc, but I don't think it really gets the player element that well. So I think that reverting to a more story-telling/decision process focused style of AAR will be good for showing it a bit more from a player's perspective. But having one AAR like this is good to point to for showing the flow. "May I suggest small comment in further posts of the campaign pointing to this AAR?" Great idea. I'll probably link to all previous AARs (as long as thats feasible, at least
who knows how many AARs I'll have before I change campaigns, everyones dead, or whatever?) but I'll definitely point out that this one shows what the direct input and output of the game is with barely any player imagination put on top. |

Great idea. I shall cherish this moment, forever
Er, do you have something similar for Star Navy? If so, I apologize for having missed it. 'Crickies! Give 'em an inch

I was not involved in Star Navy's development, so I can't really say. Next AAR is up, in which we finish Mid Late January with our bounty hunting mission. link |
