Other than the Osprey coverage, are there any books that have detail about the organisation etc of the Schutztruppen – i'm just finishing reading Byron Farwell's book on the whole war which is a great intro but looking for something more in depth. Looking on Amazon there's maybe only one or 2 titles that don't again sound like overviews of the whole war in Africa. Also any websites – I've seen a Rhodesian one that had some photos and drawings but it rather emphasised the white German troops (and in SWA where of course they had nothing like the success of what happen in the East) whereas what strikes me as fascinating about Von Lettow Vorbeck was his ability to mix the German and African soldiers together into a superb fighting force. |

Ballantine did a paperback book back in the 70's, it sometimes surfaces for a few bucks. It has a campaign narrative, maps and illustrations of major weapons used. |
