I changed my mind on the Nemesis, I converted it to a colonial gunboat. I think it worked out pretty well, take a look if you wish link

Very impressive. Did you have a blueprint for the ship or kind of make it up as you went?

Todd636,

I have an old copy of Conway's All the World's Fighting Ships 1860-1905 and a pre-WW1 copy of James Fighting Ships for inspiration, but most I just wing-it freehand. That explains things like this sudden change of direction in mid-build.

Your gunboat is great!

I gotta say, I like the new Nemesis design more than the old with respect to the torpedo tube placement. Good call!

Very nice, very nice indeed. Her Majesty's Government approves, and purchase orders will be forthcoming from the Foreign Office.

Very nice scratchbuild !

But PLEASE paint the interior of the gun muzzle black !! The tan interior muzzle makes it look like a toy instead of a gunboat.

chicklewis,

Fear not good sir! The muzzles will be drilled out before she is placed into service.

You have some neat techniques there.

Nice – One day I aspire to have something like the Riveresco card ship but in more durable materials – your efforts inspire me!

Not my period but I love your work. Might be tempted to have a go.

Very inspiring, scratchbuilding never fails to amaze me! Top notch stuff

Jimula,

If you use Gorilla Glue inside the hull of a paper model it becomes very strong. This glue expands to fill space and is very rigid when set, getting rid of most of the floppiness of paper models.

KTravlos27 Jan 2013 2:46 a.m. PST

Anton your stuff is pretty spectacular!

Jimula27 Jan 2013 5:32 a.m. PST

Anton, thanks for the tip :)

Would you just paint it on a bit like PVA?

Anton Ryzbak28 Jan 2013 12:56 p.m. PST

Jimula,

I would very carefully paint on the interior of the model, if left unclamped the glue expands into a rigid foam. I suggest that you buy a small bottle and play around a bit before using on a model, it has some unique properties, It also holds like few other glues, handy stuff indeed!
