I am moving from 20mm to 28mm and have a large collection of 20mm figures, (not advertising their sale here)I am going to a convention soon and plan to sell them there, they are painted well (not professionally) but they look great on a table, every one is based as well. To facilitate a sale I was going to sell them "by platoon" (since I game skirmish) each platoon is 25-35 guys, so would asking $20 USD be reasonable? |

dollar a figure is painted price for metal 20mm approx round here but that's ok not great painting! plastics? wouldn't know, but would say half price of metal roughly, but I wouldn't buy them even if they were cheaper than that. |

Yeah, they are plastics and all a mix of Caesar and Italeri, with a box of Revell in there somewhere. On a 10 scale id say theyre painted 7.5, my brits are a 6 though lol |

Metal 20mm painted for a buck? You're not serious? Most 20mm metal figs run a buck unpainted. Why would anyone sell them painted for a buck? Better to keep and trade them then. I'd say $2 USD-2.50 is fair for a solid paint job and you want to move them. Plastics are a concern in how they were painted and sealed. I'd say 1 buck if they were fair or you wanted to move them. Otherwise $1.50 USD-2 bucks. Thanks, John |

My experience has been that that gamers who actually buy frequently will not pay as much as the TMP wisdom would suggest the "value" of the figures is. If the point it to move them, then a buck each will do that. You could ask more, but you will hold them longer and may end up with an oddball set of remainders. If you are done with them, price them to sell and move on. One strategy I have used is one price for one a single group and a lower price if you take the lot (or a portion of everything like :all of the British"). This usually means the whole bunch moves at once. |

Sorry, but I'm Mister value guy. Everyone who knows me understands I always look for a deal. I also happen to sell painted figs for a living. I price my stuff very competitively. I believe if I like to buy a good price I should sell at one. I agree that pricing to move is one thing. But unless you are conducting a fire sale you should be able to move the figs if they are decently painted at the prices I mentioned. After all there is no down side to starting higher and reducing the price if they don't sell, correct? Thanks, John |

>Better to keep and trade them then. That is a great idea. If that works for you, put them up on the trade section of TMP as swaps for a start, then consider Barter town (if they are still in business). You could trade them for painted/unpainted figures, board games, or any sort of hobby related item wargamers might have. |

sorry if I come off a bit cheap, but I buy painted 28mm stuff for a pound a figure all the time – ok painting but not great at that price (stuff I might be happy to game with) we used to game in plastic airfix scale (20 mm) using my friends professional painted plastics when he sold them he got pence on the deal (I mean a box based on pennies went for cost of the box file they were stored in, plus the cost of the pennies they were based on, plus about 7-9 pence per figure. this was at a bring and buy at a local event in 2000/2001, my personal experience is such that I think you are asking a very fair price, but I know a lot of very cheapskate wargames who will not pay it. |

There's a difference between "A fair price" and "Even the cheapest wargamer around will jump on this deal." $1 USD a figure, including the figure itself, is giving them away. If someone asks me to paint 20mms, I'd estimate $3.50 USD-4 each for the time involved. I note that the excellent Evil Bob charges $5 USD: link You may not get the 'fair price' if you are planning to move them out at a convention, but don't undersell either. |

Valid points, but there is also a difference between what a painter charges and what some guy looking for a few extra bucks charges. Painted 1/72 plastics can be had all day long on ebay in the dollar-or-so apiece range. |
