I'm looking for a plastic injection molding company that makes small pieces in small runs. Anybody know of one? |

no. do you want me to look at the trade magazines and come back to you with companies that do prototype runs, short runs in specialized materials, it really is a case of how big a mould, can they use a pre produced cooling plate, what kind of machine, do you need advice on runners, send me a pm with your info and I will check with my list, and see if I can put you in touch with somebody who will be able to help you. |

Aren't there "tabletop" injection moulding machines ? Not cheap – a few K I think, but depending on how much you want to do, might be worth considering. |

I have one of those table top machines, I can just about pump a 28mm casting on a micro sprue. but it's really slow compared with spincasting metal, and way more expensive for the mould

Shapeways, if you have a digital design. Not injection moulding, but good for short runs. |

When I looked into this a couple of years ago for a terrain project I was considering, there WERE some companies that would take your 3D CAD file and turn it into an injection mold – basically by cutting the mold with a CnC milling machine. It was cheaper than the god awful prices I'd seen bandied about, but still not what I would call CHEAP. IIRC, they were mostly in China. Doug |
