Gabriel Landowski, Be careful, McLaddie wears out keyboards replying to people who have any level of doubt about what he says. He may not ever prove his point, but he'll likely type until you give up questioning it. Cheers, The Bandit |

Bandit: I thought you'd left. And GL should be careful. You'll ask a question with four broad qualifiers and then will be upset if he asks for more information and doesn't provide one sentence answers exactly the way you want it. I type fast and appreciate the complexity of what is being discussed. Best Regards, Bill |

Gabriel Landowski, I don't know
I've read and studied similar things myself for 25 years. Having served in uniform for 13 years the one thing I've consistently noticed virtually nothing in reality matches up with what comes out in the research. The one exception is most first hand accounts at the lowest echelons. If I understand you correctly, the accounts of officers and commanders regarding how execution of a plan occurred, the timing and particulars of how it was done do not tend to line up with reality while the accounts of the grunts "on the ground" regarding their unit coming under fire, advancing or retreating and what occurred to those standing around them has a higher level of accuracy? From that I'd expect on a sliding scale it is easier to get a some sense of what it was like to present in the chaos relative to how easy it would be to get some understanding of the "physics" of the battle with regard to command & control resulting in what actually happened. Cheers, The Bandit |
