They really look lovely!

They look fantastic. How do you like the Byzantines in Saga? I have the issue of WI with the warband rules and battle board, but I haven't played with them. It looks like they would have a very different character to the other factions.

Seems wierd to see all those minis under a term of 7 points.

Grelber21 Jan 2013 6:13 p.m. PST

They do look nice! I've always thought of Byzantines in terms of armies, not warbands. However, this approach, with its smaller number of figures, does seem to encourage some really well painted units.

Maybe I need a Byzantine warband!

Thank you guys!

@snodipous: Honestly… I can not tell yet. I have made it a habit never to play with unpainted minis. From their abilities it ready like they really depend on units supporting each other. Especially then Archers, which will be able to fire into close combat or fire through other units with the right SAGA dice. If you want, check out my log @ link . There should be battle reports there soon.

@Wargamer1972: Yes, one point for every unit seems a bit strange at first to everyone.

@Grelber: Larger units was something that always made me shy away from that period. And the beauty about the SAGA. You can build a Warband with a minimum of 45 minis.

THX,

Burkhard

Are the SAGA Byzantines supposed to be Belisarian types or later ones?
Thx,
Mike

Anybody any guesses as to what 7 points of Rus and Druzhina will comprise of?

14th Brooklyn02 Apr 2013 9:14 a.m. PST

@ Mike: The background is a bit vague on this, but since they call the Warlaord a Basileus, I would assume, yes! wink

@ Johny: No idea, but I guess these will be on the interesting side as well!

I'm thinking something along the following

Warlord – Noble/ Prince
Hearthgaurd – druzhina Band of mtd nobles/ retainers – 4 figs – 1pt
Warriors – Militia Spearmen – 8 figs – 1pt
warriors – Militia bow – 8 figs – 1pt
Peasants – Tribal levy – 10 fis – 1pt
warriors – Steppe Bow armed light cav – 8 figs – 2pt's
