Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that the new year has brought 4 new models. The Wentz farm which includes the house and the barn, The Dobbin house, and the George George house. These are all Gettysburg buildings. The Wentz farm was located on the Emmitsburg right next to the peach orchard across from the Sherfy farm. John Wentz was in the house when his son Henry Wentz came to visit him while in a Confederate Battery nearby. The Dobbin house is a Gettysburg landmark and now operates as a Restaurant. This is a very large stone building and was one of the first structures built in Gettysburg during the mid 1700's. Confederate sharpshooters fired from this house at Union troops on Cemetary hill, until they were finally made to retreat by advancing Union troops. The George George house was located also on the Emmitsburg Road, just a short distance from the Dobbin house, and was thought to house the servants that worked for the Reverand in the Dobbin house. During the 1st days battle, John Reynolds was killed and they removed him from Mcpherson's ridge to the George George House. The house is said to be haunted by Reynolds ghost. These buildings are all currently available.

We will have many new and varied buildings coming up in the future, with buildings from other well-known battlefields, including the southern and western theatres. My son, Jeff is coming back from Kuwait next month and he will be making buildings again with me. So, we will have a lot more releases this year! If you have a specific request for a building, please send it to us, with any information you may have about the building. Last year was a great year for us and we want this year to be even better!

Thank you all sincerely for your patronage,
John

I'm happy to see a Wentz farm! There was a picture taken right after the turn of the century but nothing closer to the battle time frame. Good job!

I'm assuming these are all 15mm? Nothing more for 25mm?

Don, these are actually 10mm but could be used for 15mm, as some people like the smaller footprint. I do have some plans for more 28mm, but I'm not sure exactly when we will get around to it right now. Chances are better now that my son will be coming home to help with the business that we both started.

Oh okay. I'd love to use them for my historical scenarios because I'm sure you'll do a better job than I would scratch building. I play just in 25mm but even an 20mm scaled building works well for 25mm. As you say the footprint is smaller and seems to fit better. This is especially true for me because I am using regiments as my tactical units and I have a division or two on the table. Having 25mm buildings with 25mm models means the buildings start to crowd the table too much.

Oh and I must correct myself, the Wentz farm photo I mentioned was taken in 1888.

I eagerly look forward to a 25mm line! Can't wait… literally! :)

Great stuff, thanks JOhn!

Just a note to everyone. Our website is under construction, so you may not see pics of these buildings yet, but the prices are listed for these buildings under the "Price Sheet" menu.
Don, we definitely have some plans to do 25-28mm, but haven't decided what kind of buildings yet.

I am definitely in favor of more 25/28mm buildings. I picked up your first one at Fall In and it is fantastic. So if you make more I will buy them.

Houdini20 Jan 2013 2:07 p.m. PST

I agree with Don. To maximise the value of another (larger) scale the buildings need to be on the small 25mm size. It would be perfect if they matched in scale to the Musket Miniatures buildings. They will have less market appeal if they are full size 25/28's.

Here's a better look at these buildings after they've been painted.

You guys are making it harder to decide what scale to do. Some people want 28mm so they can put figures inside them, for skirmish games. We'll see what we can do to satisfy everyone, but you know we can't!

Chevron20 Jan 2013 3:24 p.m. PST

The buildings are fantastic and are a pleasure to paint. Looking forward to some future landmarks such as the Lutheran Seminary, Cemetary Gatehouse, and maybe a few other not as well known buildings like the railway station etc. Keep up the great work John – really enjoy the products!

d effinger20 Jan 2013 5:30 p.m. PST

You have to remember that a skirmish level game only need most likely a house and barn 99% of the time. A larger sized game needs multiple buildings. If you gear your 25mm sales towards skirmish level games with figures inside you will sell just two buildings to a gamer, a house and barn. If you gear it to larger games you will sell whatever you produce.

If I'm doing my Peach Orchard scenario I need the Sherfy, Wentz and Klingel farms. I'm NOT using 3 identical sets of your generic house and barn. I will look elsewhere. Besides, they will be too large for my table if models are built to fit skirmishers in them. I'd never buy them. I'll just build my own and live with the half-baked work I do.

That's my 2 cents.

Don, your input is much appreciated!

Disco Joe20 Jan 2013 6:21 p.m. PST

For me I am the opposite. If the buildings are on the smaller scale and not what I am looking for I will pass on them. I would prefer buildings I could put figures in but if worst came to worst would live with them the other way.
How about adding some building for a town or city such as Fredricksburg or Richmond? Something along those lines.
Although doing more of Gettysburg in 25/28 would also please me.

MrJLMayer23 Jan 2013 8:20 a.m. PST

Well, gentlemen. I cannot make any promises but I will be experimenting with 25/28mm scales to see what we are capable of and what seems marketable. As we are currently focused on 10mm that will remain our priority for the coming year but I do plan on putting together a few larger scale samples to see how people react. Most likely to be seen at Historicon '13 at the earliest, but definitely have something by Fall-In '13. So don't fret we may be able to accommodate both spectrum's of 25mm. -Jeff Mayer (BnT)

Love your buildings and used them in my Fredricksburg river crossing game at Historicon last summer. Please keep up the 10mm line.
Cheers,
Joel
