Aside from the Pegasus banana plant models, are there any banana plants or rubber trees suitable for 28mm to fill out cultivated areas in a Vietnam game?

The Pegasus are 1/72 and the largest appears to be 2.5" high. Accoring to Wikipedia, banana plants are some 6m high which would make the Pegasus models way under-scale for 28mm.

Any suggestions would be appreicated.

I'd love to hear some rubber tree suggestions – still trying to avoid scratch-building them in 15mm for Nam and WWII far east games.

I purchased some banana plants for my Vietnam games from Hoard O Bits: hoardobits.com

Do a search on the site for "Banana" and you will find them with ease.

The trees are not huge, but they are taller than a 28mm figure; anything from 1 cm to 2 cm taller than my figures.

Banana 'trees' are watery* stems made of rolled-up leaves, I seriously doubt most get all the way to 6m tall – all of ours grow to about 3m tall.

*wet enough that they can harbor mosquitos in them.

edit> Nope, looking at the wiki I see I was forgetting the length of the leaves sticking up. I guess they do get up to 6m overall.

Have you considered using Pegasus leaves on scratch-built trunks?

snurl120 Jan 2013 7:49 a.m. PST

Just build up the base beneath the Pegasus trunks and hide it with other foliage.

The Hoard O Bits parts that Shelldrake linked to are the Pegasus banana plants parts, sold separately. Not a new product, but still handy.

They even have sugarcane.

Jeff,

Thanks for the pointer.

Anyone any idea what currency the products are displayed in?

I've sent an e-mail to find out how much they are. Think they are from Korea.
As soon as i get a reply, i'll let you know.
