Hi all,

There is another post in my fledgling retro-warhammer blog, focused on Mantic undead nastiness.

if nothing, Mantic miniatures are different from most other companies. I am not fond of the heater shields the dwarves have. However, if you replaced them with round shields, that should sufficiently change the look and feel.

Good thoughtful review.

Cheers.

I meant to convey that I *do* have a fondness for them.. it's just that my current main project, and my imagination, is sooo wrapped up in 80s British fantasy art that they don't have a place at the mo. They'll go into the pile and will resurface im sure! :-)

Great blog post. I felt the same way about the Mantic dwarfs but I have actually been swayed a little the other way by seeing good paint work (as is on display on your blog).

Nice Blog!

I had the same experience with the Mantic Dwarves, bought them and then sold them in about 2 weeks though turn around. They are neat figures but just did not do it for me either. Funny I also picked up the undead at the same times and they are and have been on the work bench for a while – very nice and fit just fine for me.

I have however found some Dwarves that work great and will have to get some pictures up for others to see them.

I painted up a whole Mantic dwarf army for use in 3rd edition WFB

Personally the heater shields and tabards looked more imperial dwarf to me than the the mini viking look (which in 3rd WFB would be Norse dwarves)

hi guys,

re: imperial dwarves, I can see where you are coming from but there are also clansmen in between then & norse dwarfs. it's all about personal preference I guess, if they right for you they totally are.

I would love some renaissance dwarfs as imperials, all pricey though.

thanks for nice feedback re: blog btw :-D
