Greetings One and All, Space 1889/Soldier's Companion AAR "La défense du Fort Miami" up on my blog: link Wish I could insert a picture here to tempt you, but I can't remember the code, simple though it is. Regards, Keith F. |

Sacre bleu! Time to send in the Legion to sort things out Great AAR |

Frederick – Yes. These "setbacks" are really starting to annoy the ministers in Idaeus Fons. Time to get serious and send in le boudin rouge. |

Ouch! Bad day for the French. Where's the Legion? Very pretty game, though. |

Thanks all for the kind words. "Ouch! Bad day for the French
" Bad day, indeed. This was a perfect "tiny-Isandhlwana" in that the French looked like they were managing all right and then the defense went belly-up over the course of two turns. The way we're rating the "colonial" troops makes leading them rather similar to leading Indian sepoys in the Sikh War – good firepower but shaky morale and loyalty. "Where's the Legion?" Next scenario – La Vengeance de la République. |

Please post the next game, too! Posts like yours help keep my motivation going for my own campaign (that was supposed to start last September!) I hear the marching song of the Legion in the distance! |

Too bad the French don't have little Johnny Gurkha, is all I have to say

Doug – true, though they do have Big Jean Seneglais. The Tirailleurs used to scare the hell out of the Germans during the Great War. But I don't think it's feasible to send Senegal Tirailleurs to Mars in Space:1889. More than enough Troops de Marine on hand – it's the transport costs that's the rub. Preparations are underway for a company of the Legion, with Marine and Native supports to avenge the honeur of France. I'll certainly post the next game. Thanks again, all, for the positive feedback. For them what's interested, an update on the French preparatiions to recapture Fort Miami on my blog: link Basically, the forty or so Tirailleurs Martien have been finished. Now I just need to get the boys together for a game. Regards, Keith F. |

Sir, a commander can only use what he is given. If the politicians can't support their officers they should allow them a free hand and a large purse. ;) |
