This was great, thanks for posting! You went up against a Confederate All-Star team, but the blue bellies werenīt too shabby either. Very nice use of cavalry by the Confederate commander, and under Forrest I am not surprised by the result. I am currently painting up my first 10mm ACW regiments, and I plan on using Black Powder as well. I am putting six figs on each base in two ranks, with four bases per regiment, following the suggestion of 24 figures per regiment. How do you have it arranged? Your AAR was really exciting and well written, it is great motivation for me! |

Thank you both! I'm always happy to hear that I've helped to give some inspiration to another gamer, since I've gotten a lot of inspiration from the blogs of others. Most of my infantry are GHQ miniatures, and based 8 per base, in two ranks of four, with five bases per unit. This gives 40 figures per infantry regiment, or about a 1:10 ratio going by about average unit strengths. The bases are 3/4" square, which is about 19mm. Three of the Iron Brigade regiments are actually Perrin figures, which are a little bulkier, so I only did 6 per base for those. For measurements, we just use centimeters instead of inches, and it works out really well with the unit sizes. |

Thanks for the basing info. I donīt have enough troops for forty figure units, but they look great! I too will be using centimeters, so itīs good to know it works out well. |
