I was wondering what is the "typical" width of roads in 6mm? I'm thinking about NW Europe and Russia.

Thanks!!

I've always cheated a bit on my roads. I've gone slightly more than twice the width of my most common vehicle for most everything west of the Soviet Union, and then narrowed it to slightly more than one vehicle wide for most of the "roads" in the U.S.S.R.

At 6mm scale, this would probably work "better" for you than it does for me in 10mm.

Honestly though, what looks reasonable to you is what I'd suggest.

Should be somewhere in the area of 10 to 15mm per lane. For some of those roads that are single lane but two way, may be about 18mm

Depends on the ground scale you're using, I would think.

I sometimes cheat ridiculously and make them wide enough to accommodate my usual 40mm frontage stand. That said, I don't really mind having the stands overlap the road.

I admit to huge cheating. My roads are 30mm wide to match the stand sizes. It all depends on ground scale. At 2mm = 1M then a town main road of 40 feet or 15metres is only 6 to 7mm wide. A village path/street could be 2 or 3mm in width which is a wee bit tough to mess with.

half inch wide roads usually work pretty well.

I'd always make roads slightly wider than needed. They look better if slightly over scale.

Im using the Hotz matt felt roads and they are 2" and look good with micro armor.

Bear in mind that many rules are written where a tank model represents a whole platoon, so I cheat quite a bit for playability. I use the Hotz matts for main streets, boulevards & highways (which are 2 lanes and are about 2" wide), where I just model single lane roads onto my GHQ styrofoam hexes for all other roads (about 30mm wide so they'll fit a 25mm base). This means they're only wide enough for 1 vehicle at a time, but my roads don't take over my entire game board (except in urban areas).
