I presume you want feathered wings? Don't know of any, though it is probably possible to glue wings to otherwise suitable figures. But of course an angel can look like anything -- though folks expect the wings, they are merely an artistic contrivance. Angels and devils are spirits, normally immaterial, and one cannot paint nor sculpt something that is immaterial. The wings mean "spirit" because they suggest airy mobility. Angels get bird wings and devils get bat wings because most people like birds better than bats. I expect Splintered Light will eventually do an angel or two, probably with wings, but strictly speaking they are unnecessary. |

I couldn't find any in 15mm so made some Angels using some DemonWorld Elf miniatures and some hawk wings. Sorry for the poor photo.
The Miniatures I used are from DemonWorld – link I eventually settled on some 6mm giant hawks with riders from Microworld Games. link They are a little smaller than I would have liked, but overall I am happy with the result. Cheers, Barry |

You know, ity is an interesting point as to what an angel should look like BESIDES the wings. Heavenly robes are good, almost part of the standard idea. Medieval armor for warrior angels. But presumably a culture would envision its angels in armor appropriate to itself; i.e. the reason we picture angels in medieval armor is that most Christian art was done during the Middle Ages. But if my Romano-British Logres Godfearers have angels, they ought to be in late Roman armor. And perhaps if anyone was seriously depicting warrior angels today, they'd be, what? USMC? Super heroes? |

The link to Demonworld did not work for me. But I think these are the figures Barry S used: link |

Here's a thought
there's other depictions of angels beyond the winged humanoid. Why haven't we seen some of the weirder stuff sculpted? Lifted from TV Tropes: *Living Creatures — These angels are a specific set of four Cherubim mentioned in both Ezekiel and Revelation. Their descriptions vary slightly from both accounts, but they seem to have faces varying from that of a lion, ox, man, and eagle, eyes all over their bodies, and more than one pair of wings. (In other words, they are the angels most likely to fit the page image.) Edit: Said page image is a three-headed six-winged humanoid with four arms. Thrones or Ophanim — Hold up God's throne, or are the living wheels of His chariot
They have the most alien physical descriptions of all the angels: wheels nested within wheels, constantly spinning, with rims covered in eyes. They may be "beryl-colored" (probably a greeny-yellow) and/or on fire. Seraphim — (singular Seraph) Traditionally six-winged, red, and fiery; The reason they have six wings is to cover their true form, which is so bright and glorious that all who gaze upon it
If they're not covered and won't set you on fire, they're described as handsome
but tall, terrifying, fiery, and speaking in Earth-shaking (quite literally) voices. They'd all make for some great fantasy monsters

Yes, LBW makes a good point. Artistic convention depicts angels as humans because we understand them to be rational and we are the only rational species we know. And wings symbolize a spirit's ability to go places humans can't go. Descriptions of angels in Scripture often emphasize their utter unworldliness. Even when angels appear to men in human aspect, the first thing they typically say is "Don't be afraid!" Which would be unnecessary if their appearance did not inspire terror. |
