Gents after painting 200 Landsknechts I am now starting on my Cavalry. Can anyone point me to a painting guide for these chaps for the Holy Roman Empire as opposed to French or Italian?

Many thanks,

Tally Ho!

Cheers Bob,

I am also after something more early 16th Century. Whilst the Foundry Gendarmes look great a lot of the stuff I can find on the interweb has the Germans/Austrians/Imperial in plain "silver" armour both man and beast rather than the decorative French and Italian look.

I think the style of armour used was very individual, there may well have been a tendancy for more 'Augsburg' fluting on Imperial Men-at-Arms, but I dont think it was uniform!!!

I sent you another couple of articles that had some earlier stuff in them.

But most of what I have is for a bit later.

Does something like this help? You can look for more works by him and at larger resolution, but the period is sort of right, I think.
