For Christmas my wonderful girlfriend bought me a unit of Avantgarde and a unit of Light Brunswickers. I am starting off with the Light Battalion, the 1st Light (cannot resist painting pink on the black uniforms) and have come to a painting impasse. I do not have any books for this unit so I have been looking around the internet. From some of the available pictures it appears that the pom pom on their shako was yellow over blue, where the Life and Line Battalions had blue over yellow. Was this used to denote them as light?

Also it looks like their haversacks were gray (Greatcoat Grey – P3), canteens were blue (Prussian Blue?) and their packs were brown (Brown Leather – VMC). What was the color of the mess kit looking thing on the top of the pack that is strapped to it?
