A Gotha, three Camels and a Pfalz go into a bar. This is the punchline:

A Caproni, a Camel and three German fighters walk into a store – - -

That was the story of New Year's eve – we have been trying the bombers for a while and I have yet to shoot one of them down!

The Little Prince (who is a true air ace!) had the Caproni with a Camel for escort and I had two Fokker D7s and an Albatross – he had to bomb an Austrian cavalry base (some 6mm Napoleonics doing double duty) – he pressed on with the Caproni while the Camel peeled off; the Caproni pasted one of my Fokkers which went down in flames; the Camel and the Albatross squared off and shot each other down, while the Caproni sailed off and bombed the Austrian cavalry to powder

Frederick, mine only went down with the explosion card. I was thinking of using a house rule of two explosion cards to take down a bomber, but I only thought of it AFTER mine had drawn the card…

Good stuff. Should be getting my bombers today!!!

Doug em4miniatures02 Jan 2013 1:13 p.m. PST

Frst game I had with the bombers, the Caproni got the explosion card on first round of shooting…I wasn't pleased – I mean, it's so pretty….!

Enjoeyed the AAR again – still liking the pic-heavy format.

Thanks Ajbartman and Doug! Glad you liked it! I know what format to keep AARs in now!

It's always tough when you pull the explosion early on, but that's the nature of the game, I guess!!

Hi,
great report! Is that a custom mat the planes are flying on?

Abwehrschlacht03 Jan 2013 3:59 a.m. PST

Hi Combat Colours, thanks and yes it's a custom mat made by terrainmat.com one of their WW1 range. Quite pricey, but well worth it!

So far (and it has been only a couple of games) we have yet to pull the Explosion card!

Neat scenario. I enjoyed the read.

Frederick, you'll be begging for two when it does happen…

Thanks Lions Den! Glad you enjoyed it!

I made a comment that was answered here on TMP regarding the mat. Disregard. But again, very nice looking battle. Dan

Dan, no problem, I'm always doing that myself… Glad you enjoyed the post!
