Can anyone direct me to a copy of these? or have a copy for sale?
Regards

That brings back some happy memories. I wish I still had my copy!

Now, I must tell you they're extremely records-intensive -- you are essentially issuing orders to each figure on the table. There's also fatigue and so forth to take into account. At the end of the day, you might do better to use some more modern rules. I was going to say they might be cheaper too, but a quick Google finds this: link

Thanks Jeff, my googlefu was weak :)

Wow ! That's a bit more than I paid for mine back when :0 After a couple of games it gets easier (as with most games) Really liked the level of detail and had some real nail biter games :)

It is a good gaming experience that every colonial gamer should try at least once. We had a six player game once with a squad of British doing a dawn attack to spike a Dervish gun battery. Great fun and there are some decisions to be made in regards to reloading, aiming, etc., each turn. Definitely record keeping intensive, but it is a good set of man to man skirmish rules.

Whatever happened to the 25mm Boers I converted from Hinchliffe Confederates for that game – and the Zulus? Still got the Airfix farmhouse I tried to make suitable for South Africa (probably not very successfully.

I remember that it took something like 10 turns for a muzzle-loader to reload and if I remember rightly, you got a 5% extra xhance of hitting for every move you aimed at a target before firing? Annoying if you aimed for lots of moves and then the target disappeared.

I liked the Western rules more – still got them.

I was playing these before TSATF came out. I was glad when TSATF did. Also played Soldiers of the Queen quite a bit. i really liked the cards in the game.

Thanks,

John

I second the comment about TSATF. We did the same; played a lot of Colonial Skirmish and Western Gunfight. When TSATF came out, everyone started painting Colonial units.

Played many colonial skirmishes with these rules in the '70s. I reckon I could still play the rules given just the shooting and melee tables (usning the percentage dice I got to play them originally).

Great set of rules, together with their Western Rules, which I still have and use – I also remember the 54mm "Steve Curtis Memorial" games that were always a feature of the Reading show during the late 70's/early 80's.

These days I find "Sharp Practice" the closest in spirit (but with different, more streamlined mechanisms) for my 19th century colonial and other skirmish games.
