What does the finished article look like?

A bit fiddly to assemble, so not my favourite … but it came out nicely enough in the end. It is almost identical in size to the FoW equivalent model (see P.B.Eye-Candy/Reviews) …

Happy New Year

It seems they overthink their trucks and truck based models. I found the German Opel Truck they make also had too many fiddly pieces. Not sure why they have such detailed suspensions when none of it is ultimately visible.

I was just thinking of expanding my zvezda eastern front stuff in 1:100. Thanks for the painted example, I'll definitely grab one of these kits.

I think this is a legacy of their background of making models for modelers, not wargamers.

You can find the same phenomenon with metal manufacturers. Try assembling a metal Bren Carrier from Quality Castings or a Bofors 40mm AA gun from ANYBODY. It drives me nuts. At least plastics are easier in that regard.

Excellent work Phil, I must have missed the BA-10 from Zvedza, it had slipped my attention. I might have to get a few now…

"A bit fiddly to assemble" That's an understatement :) I've just made 3. A lovely model but fiddly as hell!!!

Thanks for the positive responses, guys … when I thought about my purchase I couldn't find any photos of completed models on google – so thought posting some might be useful

@ David Manley … OK, I give in (I'm reasonably adept at many wargame assembly tasks and this one annoyed me!).

We all seem to agree about their perverse way of doing the truck type 'undercarriage' but those headlight components were just too small for me (after I'd dropped them too many times I gave up trying to fit them 'properly' and just trimmed them to what looked like the right length and superglued them on, flush)…

But such, of course, are the joys of wargaming and collecting grin

Shame there isn't a turret ring so you could make them into a turretless Ba-10 for Razvedki transporters.

Shame there isn't a turret ring

… can easily be fixed …

so you could make them into a turretless Ba-10 for Razvedki transporters.

… which I'd never heard of. These do sound really something. Are there any photos of what these look like? Scouts in improvised APCs would make great recce stands …

People have been asking on the FoW board for a photo for years with no luck some have even gone so far as to suggest that they might be a figment of the imagination

It was a turret removal and internal strip out conducted about late 42 when the vehicles in the heavy companies were replaced by light tanks. I would expect canvas would be used over the turret ring and the internal use of wooden benches….not found any photos so far

Thanks for the extra info, Kev …

General plea: if anyone does come up with some photos, do please post them somewhere

Wait until you see the Sdkfz 222 Armoured Car. I gave up and threw mine in the bin

Here is what they did with the B64.

And the turretless stuart from QRF comes with a canvas about the right size.

and from here….

the first picture suggests that the germans at least had ones with the full top opened up….but they may have done it themslves

However,….If you REALLy want a challange…..I know you will love this!

I wonder if you could take the Zvezda Zis-42 Halftrack (when it finally gets released) and the Zis-5 kits and combine them for the armoured Zis-5. You would still need to scratch the load bed superstructure though
