Wondering if anyone knows about a boardgame that is about some of the smaller battles / campaigns like those in the West Country. I already have two fine games for the entire war, but was thinking about scaling down to something more manageable for gaming. I'd think that it'd be a good topic for a magazine game or something like that. Any leads appreciated! |

I don't know of anything but could you tell me the games you have that deal with the entire war? |

wargamedownloads.com look here (under board game historical), I think Naseby is free. There are plenty of game is the series and a commercial publisher is looking to pick them up and putthem out as 3 lots of quad games. |

One is by Clash of Arms: "The Kings War". Nice graphics, nice game. The second is by Simulations Canada: "Power & Resolution". typical by them, bleh graphics but nice rules. Either could be used to provide a scaled-down version of the war on table (a brigade = a regiment, or something like that). The better graphic detail of the former probably makes for a more topographical game, supply matters in both. |

Come, come! Unhappy King Charles is the follow up to King's War. Surely this is well known? It has sold enough copies

Unhappy King Charles is set around the entire 1st Civil War, though, rather than a smaller campaign. It's really good, mind. I think that there were some board games set around the West Country campaigns between Hopton and Waller, although whether they fitted together or were a series of one-off scenarios I cannot say. I recall I found them by searching board game geek on the subject of the English Civil War. Leigh |
