From what I understand (and this is all over the comic fan-sites), Peter Parker's mind swaps bodies with the dying Dr. Octopus but manages to leave a lot of memories behind in the process. This will lead to the end of the Amazing Spiderman and the beginning of Superior Spiderman. The vibe is that all of the heroic/good memories that Peter leaves in his original body may turn the Doc good
who knows? The transfer kills Peter Parker (or does it
redux/clones/dreams etc
YAWN) so Spidey is 're-borne' with a new edge to his character. Who knows, maybe Superior Spiderman will end up with some extra, shiny-red, power arms? Interesting times are ahead and maybe we can finally read a Spidey comic without having to put up with Peter moaning about how rubbish everything is. |

Oooooo, more new comics destined for the quarter bin! I don't waste my money on the rubbish that's modern comics. I take that money and use it to buy older quality comics. My son does the same. My comic shop owner agrees with me that its money better spent. |

I have not read a new Spiderman comic sense the late 1980s |

Oh noes! They're killing off a beloved comic book icon who will never return! Like Clark "Superman" Kent, Jason "Second Robin" Todd, or Steve "Captain America" Rogers
Hey! Wait a minute

As meaningless as the death of any comic character. About the only noteworthy thing about it is that Marvel has just ended one of their longest-running books, at least in terms of issue count (the brief Byrne reboot and the odd skipped month breaks it for continuous publication). Between that and DC's decision to restart everything with the 52 relaunch, American comics have abandoned any claim to a place in the record books. Last I checked, the Belgian anthology book Spirou now holds that honor. |

To misquote Arnold "He'll be back" Super hero comic deaths, how can anyone take them seriously. |

Oh no! They killed Spider-Man! Again

Hey come on now! It was given the "thumbs up" by good ole Stan "I'll do anything for a fast buck" Lee
He's the PT Barnum of the Comic industry! |

Stan's not quite as classy as Barnum. |

no need to worry, Spidey hasn't jumped the shark until he "comes out" as being gay or transgendered or something or other

I have a feeling this might be a major step towards the eventual undoing of that 'One More Day' debacle. Either way, I don't think Doc Ock running around in dead Peter Parker's body is going to be status quo for long. |

Well, having read said issue 700 of Amazing Spiderman I thought that Dan Slott did a really good job of setting this whole thing up. So Peter Parker is dead is Doc Ocks body and Doc Ocs mind is living in Parkers body, except that he has all of Peters memories, and just before he died Peter force Oc to relive his (Parkers) life. Oc swears to uphold Parkers morality and become a better, Superior Spiderman. |

Why are any of us here? Spidey hasn't jumped the shark until he "comes out" as being gay or transgendered or something or other
Isn't he already transspecied? Not that there's anything wrong with that. |

And despite all the evidence, there still aparently were people who went as far as e-mailing death threats to the author. Looks like it's definitely not "meh" to some
