Anyone know if there are any good (preferably free) software programs out there for making comic books? I have the urge to put some batreps on the blog, and I wantd them to look appropriately comic-y.

Not free, but seems pretty reasonably priced.

I second the use of Comic Life 2. Not free, but (relatively) cheap. I use the Mac version, however, so I don't know if the Windows version is as good. (No reason to believe it is not, however.)

I like the ability to make comic books or to simply export as a series of JPEG images to import into my blog. Examples at: daleswargames.blogspot.com .

I had a lot of problems with Comic Life 2 and went back to the original, which I am familiar with. I use windows.

If you're looking to do it professionally, your choices are Photoshop (wonderful to use, but expensive as all get-out) and the GIMP (free, but kinda clunky).

With a little bit of forethought, you can do it on microsoft paint… why do you really need any fancy software for a simple cut/paste/label function?

Give google's powerpoint clone a try. The problem with paint is that it does not handle layers at all. PP clones allow moving thr text around without destroying the underlying image.

I do a number of battle reports, and probably around 10-12 in Comic Life. With page set-ups/layouts, font and speech bubble effects, that can all be manipulated easily as discreet elements, it works well for me.

superhero figurehunter and Sundance: This looks like exactly what I'm looking for. And the price is fine.

Thanks!
