my latest blog post is an AAR of the Christmas WoW/G game I played last Sunday, I hope you enjoy it: link |

Very exciting, and with, I think, quite a realistic result. The planes are just lovely by the way. |

Thanks Texas Jack, it was an exciting game alright, especially as Hawker was blasting away for all his worth throughout, but not hitting the proverbial barn door! I can't take any credit for the planes, they are all pre-paints, but, yes they are lovely little things! |

Yes, we enjoyed the new 1916 planes too, though we find they stay up longer against hostile fire as the B damage deck takes a while to cause much damage! |

Bystander (ie: don't have the game) question: Is the need to reload the Lewis gun of the DH2 taken into consideration at all? Just wonderin'
'cuz the DH would/could fly rings around the E-III, but the German had a belt-fed gun. |

Herkybird, you're right, the game seemed to go on for quite a while and we were worried we'd run out of cards, but there seems to be enough damage in the deck to knock planes about. Added to that there is still the explosion card! gweirda, no, ammunition is not taken into account, it's a pretty slick game, so I guess things like that will only bog the play down. There are damage cards that have jammed results on them, so I guess you could see that as being a 'reloading' card. The results of the game seemed to be historical anyway

An easy solution I use for the Lewis gun ammo limitation is having three colored glass beads with the aircraft display; every time I fire a burst from my trusty Lewis gun, I take away a bead. When the beads are gone, the Lewis is out of ammo. Now the fun part: reloading. The aircraft whose pilot wants to reload his Lewis gun has to fly straight for three consecutive movement cards. This simulates his (1) pulling down the Lewis gun on its Foster mount, (2) prying off the empty drum, swapping in a new (full) drum, (3) charging the gun and pulling it back up into the ready position, all the while keeping his aircraft *upright* and stable enough for him to accomplish this little task. Of course, if the opposing player guesses that their Lewis-equipped opponent will try this stunt while he's still in range
Observers don't have to go through this palaver, as they don't have to both reload their gun(s) while keep the aircraft level and stable by holding the flight stick between their knees like the lucky fellows flying those DH2s, Nieuport 11s/16s/17s, or SE5as

That's a good idea BWP, it's a pretty simple solution to it. |
