I picked up the beginner box last week.
I have my own thoughts after a couple of read throughs but realize that actual play makes a world of difference.

Anybody actually given this a go on the tabletop?

One of the guys from Penny Arcade has – he liked it and posted about playing it.

I have mine on order from Amazon. Read a couple after-play reviews that really like it.

I have the beta and the beginners box, but have yet to play it out…

I both like and dislike the fact that it's narrative and not geared toward miniature style combat. We'll have to see if I can develop a hybrid for my miniature oriented rpg'ers

I HAD the Beta version.
We played it shy of a dozen times.
Nobody in my Club liked it very much.
I gave them away and went back to teh WEG d6 or SAGA ed (which we play both).

To be polite, it was not a ruleset for me/us.

Can't beat WEG 1st edition StarWars….

Never played WEG, why can't you beat it? :)

WEG Star Wars was a very simple game, but had a lot of depth. The mechanics captured the feel rather well.

Plus, they had great expansions for space battles (Star Warriors), and for land battles (Star Wars Miniatures Battles)

I still love these rules and use them a lot!

I read up on it last night on the Fantasy Flight Games web site. A new star Wars RPG does sound interesting but I
m not sure if I like format , one core rule book for Smugglers, bounty hunters and other scoundrels out in 2013, followed by a rule book for playing the Rebel alliance in 2014 with a book for playing Jedi in 2015 doesn't really sound that appealing to me. I rather have one rule book that lets me play as many characters type as possible.
