Today a few members of the local HMGS-South group played out the historical action on the Yazoo River, July 15th, 1862.

We replayed this battle several months ago using Smoke on the Water rules. Same result, Arkansas sank.

What ship model are you using to represent Queen of the West?

David Manley28 Dec 2012 11:31 p.m. PST

No "forest of masts and smokestacks" for the Arkansas this time!

Old Crow29 Dec 2012 9:30 a.m. PST

The model is from Thoroughbred and is called Union Ellet Ram Item #TS21. I have many Thoroughbred, Peter Pig and Bay Area ships painted up and finally to get a game in!
The Run of the Arkansas was a classic Breakout scenario. The Arkansas came down river at half speed to take shots of the Union ships and to show what she was made of, wrather than just run past! I do have David Manley's "Forest of Masts and Smokestacks" and is one of my favorit articles!

Thanks, I think I have one or two TS21s in my stash.
