Hey fellow Kiwis! So, with the demise of Maelstrom, looks like we're back to paying exorbitant shipping costs – or are we? I thought I'd ask the hive-mind, and see if any of you guys have found some reliable places with either capped, or free (say with a minimum purchase) sites. The ones I've found are: - Slave to Painting. Christchurch-based place with a pretty reasonable stock of 28mm Fantasy and Sci-fi, heaps of paints, etc. - Warlord Games. Free shipping over £40.00 GBP, £1.00 GBP shipping for less then that. They also knock off the V.A.T. at the checkout! - Splintered Light. $6 USD capped rate. - Rebel Minis. Same as Splintered Light. You can also get a lot of rule books from The Book Depository (free shipping, and usually discounted) and Amazon (has shipping specials on a regular basis). Does anyone else know any others? Are there any other decent NZ stores with a good web presence? Thanks, Entweasel |

Hi Entweasel Very good question, ive been scouring for a while now with the demise of Maelstrom having affected my wallet (for the better my wife would say) I know that Daniel Linder (King Dan in some circles) was starting up something up here in Auckland but nothing solid yet it appears. I will watch with anticipation. Regards The Baron flytrapfactory.com |

Caliver Books (UK) provides free worldwide shipping for orders over £15.00 GBP in value for models, scenery and paints (but not for books or rules). caliverbooks.com They stock products from quite a selection of manufacturers. |

These are not capped but very reasonable: Khurasan, Copplestone Casting, Pendraken, Minibits, Hasslefree.I think Wargames Foundry caps shippinh at 7GBP. Firestorm Games in uk offers free shippong on orders more than 30GBP. (I'm in Indonesia so I sort of in the same situation) |

Ground Zero Games has good shipping prices that don't get out of line (as you don't pay VAT). The Troll Trader on eBay is also good for a lot of the sort of stuff Maelstrom carried. If you order from Wayland, go into each item and confirm it is in stock. If it's not, your order will languish in no-man's land and they won't contact you about delays or respond to inquiries. ONLY order stuff confirmed in stock by actually looking at the details of the items. The category and search pages are not reliable as the little green circles don't mean a thing and are totally misleading. TMP link |

Thanks guys, learning about a lot of other places to get my toy soldiers from. Baron – myself and a friend of mine were having a similar discussion, along the lines of Maelstrom closing down was the best thing that could have happened not only to our wallets, but also to our lead mountains – we might actually start painting and playing the games we've got! Anyone ordering from Caliver Books – make sure to keep on top of them for your orders. I've only ordered from them once, and it took somewhere in the region of five months to get it. Like AgustinSantos said about Wayland I had no contact about delays, although they did respond to inquiries :-) Another I'll throw in the ring is Wargame Vault – great for rules and some good quality papercraft terrain (no shipping because it's download), and with the wide availability of cheap tablets you don't need to print them out. Also, Too Fat Ladies offers .pdf's of their rules. |

@Entweasel, I had no problems with my order from Caliver Books (admittedly a few years ago). Anyhow thanks for asking this question, I'm taking notes. Robert |

Yeah Robert, I've got a mate who buys from them on a regular basis and loves it. I just didn't have a good experience, and it's made me a bit gun-shy :-) |
