Aethelflaed, the Lady of the Mercians, was the daughter of Alfred
the Great and married Aethelred of Mercia. After her husbands
death, she led the Mercians to victories against the Vikings and the
Welsh. Her saga starts when her bodyguard was ambushed by
Danes, while she was on the way to her wedding. We shall go
back to the beginning, and see where her saga leads
