I enjoy reading the accounts of the pirates of olde, both historical and fictional, since they can be quite entertaining.

Seems the modern day pirates aren't made of the same stuff as their 300+ year old cousins, since the Somalis have captured no vessels in the last six months:

Personally, I'm very glad to see this turn of events, and hope it will continue into the future.

Perhaps the governments of the world will beef up their naval patrols in other areas of the world, where pirates are still a problem.

I'm sure this is largely due to the presence of patrols, though I'm also sure that the navies are going to shift vessels to a different area instead of leaving the current Horn of Africa patrol at strength.

So the pirates in the new patrol area are going to get stomped on for a while, but the Somali pirates will be back to their usual takings.

Many be due to landbased operations being done by the AU.
