Hi all, I am planning to game Rolica next month and have posted a description of the battle along with my thoughts on a scenario to capture some of the key aspects. jjwargames.blogspot.co.uk I would be happy to hear from you if you have additional thoughts and ideas Jonathan |

This has always struck me as a difficult scenario to wargame – a rearguard action is a nice change. One interesting challenge is if you are going to allow something like the premature attack of the 29th to happen. Premature attacks are tough to do well in wargames rules – but were a clear risk when Wellington's army were less hardened. Random event cards is one way – but building something into command and control rules is a bit more satisfactory, combined with rating some officers as more agressive. |
