I have soviet and german figs from Black Tree for skirmishing and was wondering if anyone could tell me if they would mix well in terms of equipment and figure scale with 1st Corps and Artizan. Or any other 28mm ww2 fig lines for that matter.

Thanks in advance!

They mix well with Artizan and Crusader.

I am sure someone will post a site comparing them all side by side, but I have found BTD to run a little smaller than say Artizans. Do you need any extra russians? I have some I am not using and can sell them 50% off retail. PM me if interested.

Maybe Im thinking of Berlin or bust /west wind.

Striker12 Dec 2012 3:17 p.m. PST

West Wind look a bit smaller than Crusader (don't have any Artizan) and BTD are slightly bigger than West Wind and are a bit slimmer than Crusader although the height is ok. I mix them all though.

I mix BTD, Artizan and Crusader together with no problems.

Ditto, I mix Artizan, Crusader, Warlord, Bolt Action, Askari, and BTD without issue for North Afrika and Italian campaigns.

The best mixes are among Artizan, Crusader and Warlord/BAM, but Black Tree figures are a bit slimmer.

Interesting that you mentioned 1st Corps. Their Russians and Germans are even chunkier than Artizan's and Crusader's.

Warlord13 Dec 2012 5:30 p.m. PST

I have a LARGE collection of WWII miniatures, I have bought most ranges and them. Crusader Minatures (are a bit thicker), Artizan design, Balck Tree Design and the Assault group mix VERY WELL with each other, Bolt Action are smaller (at least mine are) than the other ranges. I have some Battle Honors also and they a slightly smaller than the ones mentioned but honestly when they are all painted up and based similar they all mix just fine.

It really comes down to personal choice, If it does matter to you I would you check out the scale comparisons for your self as some of the companies mentioned here such as BAM do have smaller miniatures.

Warlord

I have a different opinion about mixing the BA and BT than Warlord.
I must also say my only experience with BA is with their "new" Waffen SS and Russians ranges, not the original BA range to which Warlord probably referes to.
Those SS and Russians mix very well with my collection of Black Tree Russians and Germans.

Somehow the plastic BA figures don't quite fit in – the realistically thin (and very fragile) weapons I suppose – my wife's Germans and my Brits include quite wide range of metals from different manufacturers and they all fit in pretty well.
