Looks like I will be spending quite a bit of time this upcoming year in Charlotte. What stores and gaming groups are around?

religon11 Dec 2012 6:01 p.m. PST

One of the better nearby stores (Cornelius, NC)…

Not to mention being within striking distance of King's Mountain and Guilford Courthouse.

Parker, Banner, Kent and Wayne is one of two game stores in town, the other being Games HQ. Also, the HobbyTown USA on WT Harris Blvd has a fairly active Warhammer and 40K group.

There is a new store in Matthews, 'Your local games store'.

nazrat11 Dec 2012 9:05 p.m. PST

First I have heard of any new stores. Is the name really "Your Local Games Store"?

As far as gaming groups, I have a regular one in my Man Cave. I'm not far from the center of town and we play a lot of WW II, mostly Fireball Forward (since I was one of the play testers and I'm the illustrator). We also play Kampfgruppe Normandy occasionally. Tonight we went the easy route and ran a game of X-Wing. You can look on my profile to see the variety of eras and genres that I run. Give me a call at 704-568-5956 if you'd like to join in once you're in town!

There is also a group which meets every 3rd Saturday at Parker, Banner, Kent and Wayne. Their yahoogroup is

Catawbagamers

They do assorted stuff, whatever a member volunteers to run that day.

Nazrat, that is indeed it's name. Across the street from the post office in downtown Matthews.

Welcome to Charlotte Ash. Naz has a wonderful Man Cave which is the scene of many a battle. I will add that in addition to the WW II gaming we also run Ancients, ACW, VSF, and…well we play just about anything at least once.

There's also a gaming store in Baxter Village in the Rock Hill, SC area called Above Board Games.

You should find all sorts of gamers in Charlotte. Miniatures and board games. Jerry's Man-Cave, my War Room, CatabaGamers, Fort Mill Gamers, etc.

Feel free to email me when you get in town. EBurgess@Carolina.rr.com

As far as stores, there really aren't that many, especially in Charlotte.

Thx guys for your generosity. I will contact you guys in the new year.

What does PBKW carry in the way of historical stuff and brands of paint? I'll be Charlotte next week but it will be a bit of a drive to get there.
