Anyone out there know of a source of these figures that were for the late medieval/early renaissance periods, and suitable for the Italian Wars, Wars of the Roses, and Burgundian armies?

I saw a big lot of the WoR range on ebay about a year ago; very nice figures.

Did they really exist? I dont remember Foundry ever making 15mm

I bought a handful from Brookhurst hobbies about two years ago. I was told that there are no more left. I have mounted Swiss crossbowmen. The sculpting was excellent for 15mm. Aside from e-bay, etc. I doubt you'd find them in stock anywhere. Good luck!

I wonder what happened to the molds/masters.

Does anyone know if there are any pictures of these on the net anywhere? I've always wanted to see what the looked like. I tried to guy some years ago, but was too late, as they had already dropped them.

I think its a terrible shame when nice figures go out of production. Soldiers and Swords figs always looked very nice in the catalogs, I wish I could go back in time and tell my teenage self to quite wasting money on Battletech and buy some of those instead!!

I am not aware of any pics and I too wish that someone would get ahold of the molds and start a new line. Maybe its a ploy by Foundry, like many of their other lines that are withdrawn. It'd be nice.

Yes, I sometimes wonder about that too. I've heard from several manufacturers that they no longer have their molds; some aircraft miniatures I was inquiring about from another manufacturer went "missing", whatever that means.

If I recall correctly, I was told by Wargames Foundry that their molds were either lost, or worn out. Can't recall which, but I was left with the impression that they didn't plan on re-issuing them in the future. That is a real shame, since the figures were rather nice.

I don't have the entire range, but do have one of many of the foot troops, and a couple each of some of the cavalry figures. They are very nicely sculpted.

It seems to me that molds would be a bit more protected, since it takes so long to make the originals, and they are so vital for producing the end product. I would lock them in a vault, or at least put the originals in there so that more molds could be produced later, if needed. The latter would probably be easier to do, due to space and cost constraints.

Oh well, with all of the other manufacturers out there, and the new foot troop releases supposedly coming from Venexia this Fall, maybe it won't be a big issue, except for the loss in revenue to The Foundry.

My guess is that if tin prices keep climbing, they will revisit the error of their ways. I'm sure 15's must be much more profitable than 25's, due to the much smaller amount of metal used in each casting, relative to their sales price.

I believe the 15mm moulds were destroyed to prevent anyone else ever producing them. I'm sure John the OFM will chip in soon with his version of events.

About 10 yrs ago, I received some samples of the 15mm Medieval Foundry range, as well as the 10mm 7YW that Bryan Ansell and friends had done for themselves....they were both superb, and would still stack up against any comers today. Ihad thought about buying the Medival range, but sadly got sidetracked in developing early WWII (True North...)...oh well......why doesn't whomever is interested actually phone Foundry and ask....speak to Bryan if you have to.....

Oh, I'm not touching this. discuss among yourselves.

Destroying molds of miniatures.

Isn't that like burning books?

I think they should be sold, as a general policy, unless they are of inferior quality, or are no longer serviceable.

I guess we'll need to start a petition to bring the range back.

I am lucky to say that I have a goodlie number of the foote types and one of the gonnes. I've subsequently expanded them with the Mirliton 15mm Italian Medieval/Renaissance figures which fit in very well.

Good to see your gigures back in profuction Dave

I bought some of these figures from The Wargames Foundry when they first came out and some years later (early 90's)I needed some more and went direct by phone to The Foundry.

They were superb figures. All were late medieval, the crossbowmen and longbow were especially good with a mounted longbowman who had his bow in a cloth case or sleeve on his back. It was actually these figures that I needed supplementing with some reinforcements.

At first the staff at the foundry denied all knowledge of “ever” having done any 15mm figures but persistence and telling them that I was looking at an advertisement from the back of a wargames magazine (Wargames Illustrated) convinced them that I did have the right company and they did once do some 15mm’s.

I was then passed to one of the older hands, who had a vague idea where they were, then went to see if any remained. He returned with what he described as a box covered in dust and rubbish but containing the entire stock of their 15mm range. I was able to order the mounted longbowmen I needed and some of the knights but they didn’t have all the figures I wanted and I cleaned them out of some others but I can’t remember which ones.

I did ask if they were going to, A, cast any more and B, if they were going to produce any more in the range. I was told an emphatic no to both questions. I have heard, (if this is true on not I don’t know) that the boss of The Wargames Foundry is totally opposed to 15mm figures and will have nothing to do with them. If that is true then it is a shame because they were lovely figures.
