Hi guys, A table is definately a tool of the hobby, as far as I'm concerned, and I couldn't see a better TMP post classification. Following the builders installing a new Kitchen for my wife, and not being one to turn my nose up at a cast off, I have utilised the skip fodder for a table extension. It is now a rigid 12 x 6 with a 2 foot 8 inch drop leaf extension. here, amidst chaos, it takes shape.
There is a 'how to' of sorts here: link |

Do the cabinets still have recessed toe-kicks? If not, I would suggest recessing them a bit under the cabinets to have a bit more room to cozy up to the table

Do the cabinets still have recessed toe-kicks? These have recessed kickboards or are on 'open' feet. |

very nice but to save yourself the pain cover that bolt and wing nut before you rip your leg on it. |

James I agree with above when I first saw the bolt and wing nut I thought, do it the other way around. I presuming the bolt is a dome head, if not you could get one. I have a table that is assembled with wing nuts that face in and it really isn't a bother to attach the nut to the bolt even if you can't see it too well. |

Nicely done!

I agree with above when I first saw the bolt and wing nut I thought, do it the other way around. I normally would. It was just much quicker to do it this way during the construction (up, down, up, down, etc.), and for the photo op. The bolt does have a dome head. I keep meaning to shorten the bolt (hacksaw moment) in any event but never seem to get around to it – that bolt has been in use for 8 years! |

Can it get any better? Nice project, however, one side appears to have little room for a victory dance. : ) Cheers, |

An old tennis ball inserted over the bolt and wing nut is easy enough. Nice recycling project. |

Was it a case of
.I need a bigger table and some more cupboard space in my hobby room, but the wife will never let my spend more money in there, espececially as she keeps going on about a new kitchen
..HOLD ON A MINUTE!

..HOLD ON A MINUTE! I was more sneaky. "What, wife? 20+K on a new kitchen diner? Darling, snugs?" 1 hour later "Hmmmm, so Darling, what will we do with the old units?" 2 birds, one expensive stone. |

I was gonna say that those "old" cabinets look pretty good, I can only imagine what the new kitchen cost!!! (Having just spent 60 Clevelands on my new one
