If you use the board, it will stay. If not, it will go away. |

Not sure how much traffic you expect to get here, the official CD forum isn't that active. |

I'm surprised, the CD forum was once one of the most active wargaming forums on the internet! |

I'm surprised, the CD forum was once one of the most active wargaming forums on the internet! Teri Hatcher was once a no.1 search term as well. :) |

And no, I'm not trying to say CD has aged as poorly. ;) |
Leadgend | 03 Dec 2012 11:20 p.m. PST |
I'm referring to the one here: link Which has never seemed to be particularly high traffic. Maybe there was some earlier one that was more popular? |
Martin Rapier | 04 Dec 2012 2:38 a.m. PST |
"Maybe there was some earlier one that was more popular?" Yes there was, the old CD mailer list. This is back in the 90s when any sorts of wargaming forums were pretty rare
The good old days of usenet and rec.games.miniatures.historical Anyway, just kill those unused boards off, a sort of manual hierarchical storage management system. |

Game specific boards are troublesome as games come and go. Except for maybe evergreen topics like Warhammer and FoW, why bother? |
elsyrsyn | 04 Dec 2012 5:44 a.m. PST |
evergreen topics like Warhammer and FoW Well, FoW is actually a newcomer, relatively speaking. As for CD, I take it not a lot of people are into the new version (Test of Battle, I think), but I've been told it's a significant improvement. Doug |

I just wish we had less boards tbh, less is easier to browse. |
Inkpaduta | 04 Dec 2012 7:59 a.m. PST |
Doesn't look like the wargamer spouse one is attracting much interest either. |
richarDISNEY | 04 Dec 2012 8:33 a.m. PST |
Teri Hatcher was once a no.1 search term as well. :) I still think she should be! |

And no, I'm not trying to say CD has aged as poorly. ;) I doubt I've aged as well as TH has, and I'm probably not alone in that here. |

Doesn't look like the wargamer spouse one is attracting much interest either. Is that supposed to be for significant others who don't game? 'cause mine posts on the normal boards. |

I have not played CD for about three years. Which says a lot – CD was our 'go to' set of rules for WWII – modern games throughout the 80's and 90's. I still enjoy it, but finding oppponents with the time and interest to play remains a challenge. |
Bashytubits | 04 Dec 2012 9:14 p.m. PST |
I still play CD and am thinking about playing WW1 with the over the top supplement. |

Howdy, The Test of Battle forum is quite active. I've been playing since first edition (circa 1985); it is much refined over that time. I find it to be a very playable game. The rules promote combined arms in a sensible way. The morale system is excellent. Lots of supplements available for a wide variety of historically based games. There are ongoing discussions on the forum for the development of a new version of modern (post WW2) package. What's not to like? Ponder on, JAS

There's a pretty active group of CD players in my area (Miss. Gulf Coast). They put on some great looking games. |

CD TOB is played frequently here in the St. Louis area. The CD forum has been very active since its inception in 2006. |

My group plays CDIV ToB several times a year. |
Frank Chadwick | 06 Dec 2012 2:34 p.m. PST |
The CD Forum just topped 800 members, so it's not exactly dead. I wonder, though, how many CD folks are going to find this topic here in the "talk" section? |
Frank Chadwick | 06 Dec 2012 2:41 p.m. PST |
Oh, never mind. I see it's accessible through the WW2 section as well. |
Bill Owen | 07 Dec 2012 8:25 a.m. PST |
Its members have posted 46,000 articles so seems pretty active. But it may be a mark of a well-developed system that there isn't a lot of high heat and low light activity. There are several gamers that are very helpful to new and prospective players: explaining concepts and giving ideas about what/how to collect. |

No surprise, game specific groups should be left to manufacture or gamer forms. TMP IMHO is best when organized by historical period. Although non-historical gaming probably needs to be by ruleset. Just about everyone who comments on a game specific board is already a true believer and probably will rarely participate in the general period board. That is where discussions about varies rules set is discuss, compare and contrast. It's like getting your news from one source which happens to give the type of news and commentary you want rather than a more balanced approach. Like living in a wargame bubble. |
