Apologies if this has been beaten to death, but I couldn't find a thread or much on the web. Are Warlord Games plastic ECW cavalry fiddly to assemble? I found one internet review where the use of putty and green stuff to fix misaligned horse parts was highly recommended. I don't mind a bit of snipping, sanding and gluing. I build model kits occasionally. But the photos seemed to show horses and figures that needed a lot of green stuff (squadron shop modeling putty) and sanding before they looked correct. That's too much modeling work for me -- I'd rather save it for 1/48 aircraft and such. Any comments on that would be appreciated. Say, on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a low-flash metal miniature that needs a few flicks of the X-acto and files, and 10 being a significant investment of time applying putty, sanding, priming to check for flaws, then puttying a second time before a second sanding session, where would these miniatures be? |

If I need more than two hands to hold a figure while the cement sets, It is fiddly. That's why I hated the Perry GW Mordheim figures. Separate arms, muskets and torsos are just a no-no for me. |

I have put together about 6 boxes of the Warlord cavalry and didn't use any putty to fill in any gaps. I didn't really notice any significant gaps that needed it. The only thing that is a little fiddly about them is the helmet or hat which can be a bit fiddly to trim after you've cut it off of the sprue but overall they are not bad. I'd say maybe 3-4 on your scale. |

I agree with Pictor's, allthough I only did one box. Never encountered any more problems than a light fold in the neck of the horse, easily filled with construction kit. |

I've made very few 28mm, they drive me nuts, getting realistic looking joins takes a lot of effort. Sure you can bang them together quickly but doing so tends to leave the dreaded gaps. The time and frustration is not worth the money saved IMHO. Of course many disagree with this point of view. The only comment I have about Warlord ECW plastics is the horses I've seen look odd. I think they are too short in the back as if the back legs have been squashed forward. |

I've put together loads of these. Never had to use anything to fill gaps, and not had any gaps emerge. Can't say that they are harder to put together than the loads of metal minis that I've also got in my collection, which still suffer breakage to this day. Leigh |

Same here, chimig in late. I have done more warlord ECW than I can easily count, but at least 6 boxes of cavalry and way more than that of Infantry. Not problems at all.Crap modeler that I am they still went togather pretty well. Had a problem with a few musketeers, but that is more a function of old eyes and unstady hands than the models themselves. And If I do TYW in 28mm, I will be again getting more of them. Owen |
