I have done research and came up empty.
I am looking for any AA reports with some pictures.
I am curious on how the troops were mounted/scheme used for the liberators QRS for the regimental Fire and Fury.
My club is showing some " game fever" for these rules play and I would like to plan a game. My NAP figures are not mounted perfectly for standard RFnF and there is 3rd rank issue now in play.
FYI -My constraints are:
I wish not to have use 3 stands deep which results in the line looking like a column and the number of figures/ unit is too much for my limited collection. I like to hold too the 1" =25 yards for the table size available and the QRS in use.
So I am curious on how others put on their games…

Hi,
All of my miniatures are mounted for Empire. I needed to find a set of rules that other non Empire players would play. These are the ones!

In Empire standard French regiment are 12 figs mounted four to a stand. For line we just deploy the regiment in one line (like Empire)
For road column we just take the regiment put it in column and when they are on the road we say they are in road column.

For Attack or assault column, when the regiment is in a column and attacking, they are in attack column.

Since F&F uses stands for firepower what we do is divide the number of figs in a regiment by two and that equals that number of stands. So a 12 figure regiment equals 6 stands.

Once you move past the previous limitations of what it "should look like" you will see that the mechanics of F&F work rather nice!

I'm telling you I am pleasantly surprised with how they work.

timmmy,

for a 6 stand battalion at 60 men in 3 rank my unit is only 360 men ( or 240 at 40 men/stand). So How are you representing typically early campaign units with ~600 in order to balance with the artillery basing
IE 6 fire pts for battalion against artillery battery in cannonister at 4 x 5pt = 20 pts = out of balance with 4 gun stand to maintain correct frontage foot print of the typ 8 cannon battery with the 4.5" long inf battalion of 12 figs/6 stands

curious,
MG

Hi marshalGreg,

Have you seen the RFnF rules that can be used for the Liberator period here?

Questions regards basing and scale are covered.

An AAR (no pics are here)

This info should help and provide an idea of how the game plays.

Marshal,

Empire is 1 fig equals 60 men. A 12 figure unit is 720 men.
If we just used the number of stands the actual figures were on that would be 4 stands and that unit would be at a -1 right off the bat. So to increase "stands" we just decided to divide the number of figures by two. So now instead of being 4 stands at -1 they are 6 stands at 0.

Yes I do understand the consternation regarding guns. I did the exact forumla for firepower that you just illustrated!

However I found that speaking with guys who have been playing RF&F they did not see an issue with this.

If you are going to charge a gun at point blank range the gun will be at 20 points yes, but that is a +6 to your die roll.

The best you could get would be Withering Fire which is deadly but doesnt really result in too many stands being killed. Just dont charge fresh guns ;)

I think the bigger question to ask yourself is what am I really wanting to do with these rules. For me my answer was simplicity. I didnt want to get too bogged down into numbers and charts. If I did I will just play Empire with my other group.

But for an easier set of rules to play and get the feel of Napoleonics we found that these rules work well. My friends who play Napoleons battles as well as Empire really like the fact that we can get in a big game with little to no arguments!!!!

In the long run if these dont fit I am going to look at Shako2.

For our Regimental fire and fury game we base our 15mm on 3/4 inch wide and 1 inch deep stands. We base 4 figures per stand. You cane see it here. link
