This is probably too much more for wargame trees, but around minute 5 in the video he makes some homemade foliage in the microwave that looks pretty impressive and could be a super-money saver if you waned to flock a very large table or battle-mat. Has anyone every tried making this kind of foliage? Did it work as easily as it does in here? YouTube link
EDIT: My fault!!! |

Two thoughts: 1) Looks fragile. 2) Why on earth would anyone bother with putting this much time into a wargaming tree? Buy a bag of Woodland Scenics trees and build a bundle of 'em in 1/20th of the time. |

From his other films it looks like he intends it for model railroading. |

The tree does look way too fragile for game play. I actually came up with a good technique today, using a phone cord, Woodland scenics clump foliage and a glue gun. I cut an inch or two of phone cord then strip the outside plastic off. Then I bend up the four smaller cables inside. I hit all four of those with some hot glue then stick it into a tub of broken up foliage. I give it a second or two to cool then I squeeze a bunch of foliage around it while its still inside the tub. After a quick trim it's good to go. I"ll probably flock it a bit and seal it with something. Looks really good though. I did up about 40 today and I think it'll look good when I'm done. I'm going to end up needing a few hundred for my 1:1 ground scale set-up with O8 figs. |
