Hi As part of the my preparation for the centenary of the Great War I am looking at my figure options For 1914 I already have both 20mm and 28mm for the Western Front- although I do cheat and use my 20mm FPW French – well they do have red trousers after all. While I have some 28mm figures (mostly Austrians with a few Russians) I am thinking of using 10mm figures for the eastern front. I have got a few Pendraken Serbian, Russian and Austrian figures painted and based. For Germans I was wondering how Pendrakens range would fit in with the Magister Militum which I have heard are bigger – bit how much bigger? Can anyone help or even better does anyone have any comparison photographs. Cheers |

There is a comparison photo on the adler site comparing different ranges of ancients, the Pendraken and MM figures are the same height. I am presuming it will be the same as the WW1 ranges, I have some MM Romans and Pendraken WW2 and they are both the same foot to eye Hope that helps a little |

I have both and the MM figures are definitely chunkier. |

The MM WWI seem much bigger than the Pendraken WWI. Other eras do seem more comparable. |

Good luck with the project Mark! 10mm would be a great choice for WWI. I'm working on Battalion scale rules for Barrage. I'm concentrating on the Belgians and Germans right now. Eric |

Mark, can you post some photos of your Pendraken figures on your blog? Love to see the Serbians. |

I have both Pendraken and Magister Militum. The Magister are much chunkier. I've heard players refer to them as the "big heads". The Magister also have a lot of cool poses. I think there are like 4 or 5 poses both for 'attacking' and 'defending' infantry. The Pendraken have but 2 poses. Both paint up well. The Pendraken are a bit easier to paint because they don't have packs. I use both on the same table, but avoid mixing them into the same unit. This assists players in identifying units, and I've received nothing but compliments on the overall look. So I recommend using both, but if you must choose one pick Pendraken. Why? Because they have guns, headquarters, etc as well. And, I suspect Mr. Pendraken will re-do the line as 2014 approaches. His remastered lines in the past have always been beautiful. |

There will indeed be some new WW1 releases coming towards the end of 2013, ready for the centenary. :) |

Hi Eric I will indeed post some pictures. So far I ony have 2 Serbian infantry units done – 16 figures per unit with 4 based on small FOW bases. The Pendraken Russian figures are also very nice. I have started a new blog and will post pictures there TMP link I am also going to finish FOB 1900-1914 and bring it up to date. Brent is talking about a PDF release early next year. |

Huzzah! I only wish the new Pendraken were coming out sooner. But at least I know now to save my money and energy for a crazy-paint-fest starting late in 2013. |

Additions at the moment, but we've not sat down and worked through a proper list yet. A lot of the requests should be getting covered though hopefully. :) |
